FROSH finishes the season 11-0 - UNDEFEATED

The FROSH team beat Highlands Ranch today 14-0 to complete the 2011 season UNDEFEATED. Congratulations to the entire team. The win did come with a big loss to the team. Ryan Driggs, a defenseman, was hit on the knee by an opposing player and suffered a season ending injury. GET WELL QUICKLY!!!

The team rallied around Ryan and scored 9 unanswered goals in the second half. The defense along with the midfield did not allow a single shot on goal in the second half.

Coach Steve, Eric and Michael are very proud of how the boys responded after Ryan was injured. The entire team played outstanding Lacrosse and kept their heads to win convincingly.

The final game for the JV is on our home field at 10AM on 4/30 against Grandview. See everyone there!!!

FROSH improves record to 8-0 with overtime win

In a tightly contested game the FROSH team, in overtime, beat Mountain Vista 11-10. The game was played at Mountain Vista. Attackman Roman Martinez scored the winning goal, his second, at 3:07 of overtime off a feed from Middie Connor Allison.

Ken Schrader lead the team with 4 goals. Ben Zimbeck had 2 goals along with Brian Laporta, Ben Smith and Connor Henderson, 1 each.

The game was 7-3 Ponderosa at half, 9-7 Ponderosa at the end of three and Mountain Vista went ahead 10-9 with 4:49 left in the game. Ben Zimbeck won a faceoff and scored 9 seconds later to tie the game at 10.

Our defense tighted and the game went into overtime. Mountain Vista won the faceoff but lost the ball when our defense was able to force a turnover. We cleared the ball and setup our offense. In a motion offense Connor moved the ball down the left side of the field and found Roman cutting on the crease.

The entire team contributed in this win by controlling ground balls on both ends of the field.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

FROSH team wins Mountain Vista Tournament

Saturday, the Ponderosa FROSH team won the GREEN bracket at the Mountain Vista Annual C- team lacrosse Shootout. There were 24 teams in the tournament playing in three different brackets. The teams were placed in the brackets based upon school size and current win/loss records. Ponderosa played three games beating Monarch 11-1, Denver East 8-4 and in the championship game, the team beat Lewis-Palmer 7-4. In the championship game our team led 5-0 at halftime.

Every player contributed to winning this tournament. Our long stick defensive players and goalies held their opponents to 9 goals in the tournament. Our attack and midfield scored 26 goals. Our players fundamentals were outstanding. Our team won the majority of the face offs and won the ground ball battle in every game. Our defense repeatedly knocked down passes to create turnovers and the offense played ball control. The entire coaching staff could not be prouder of each players effort and execution of the game. The boys played 3 outstanding games of lacrosse.

Thank you parents for being there to cheer the team on!!
